WILLMAR -- The Willmar School Board voted during a special meeting Tuesday to expel a junior high student and to expel a senior high student.
The junior high student was expelled until the end of the 2006-2007 school year for assaulting a police liaison at school in December. The student will be eligible to return to school at the beginning of the 2007-2008 year, according to the expulsion resolution approved by the board. A hearing on the proposed expulsion was held Friday. The hearing officer's recommendation and name of the student are private data under state law.
The senior high student was expelled for one calendar year for possession of three knives at the school in December. The student and the student's parents voluntarily waived the right to demand an expulsion hearing, according to the expulsion resolution.
