ALC Students of the Month

Named Students of the Month for April at the Area Learning Center in Willmar were Angela Rodriguez, Angie Guerra, William Maldonado and Kade Neal. Rodriguez is a sophomore who enjoys art and hopes to study cosmetology. Guerra is a senior and plans to get her certified nursing assistant credential and go on to a nursing program. Maldonado is a freshman whose favorite class is gym. Neal is a junior who enjoys U.S. government classes and works in lawn care and landscaping.

Minnesota History Day

Four students from St. Mary’s in Bird Island received Honorable Mention after advancing to the final round in the Minnesota History Day virtual competition. The theme for 2020 was “Breaking Barriers in History.”

The first three students listed below competed in the Junior Individual Exhibit category. The final student competed in the Junior Individual Website. The students and their projects were:

Northern State University

The GPA for the honors designations are cum laude 3.50-3.69 and summa cum laude 3.90-4.0. Graduating at the end of spring semester from the Aberdeen, South Dakota, school were:

Atwater: Alysa Kelley, summa cum laude

Willmar: Noah Vreeman, cum laude

Cedarville University

Graduating at the end of spring semester from the Cedarville, Ohio, school was:

Pennock: Gwendolyn Peterson

South Dakota State University

Ashley Solvie, of Hancock, was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at South Dakota State University in Brookings.
