WILLMAR – The detour for the resurfacing project on Highway 12 near the Willmar bypass will be removed tonight as the road opens to allow traffic through the work zone.
Work will continue on the project as crews excavate and reconstruct the road, add a right turn lane at 7th Street and make American Accessibility Act improvements from 6th Street to Lakeland Drive.
Stage two of the project goes into effect on Thursday when Highway 23 ramps on the south side of the project will be closed to traffic.
Motorists will follow a signed detour on Kandiyohi County Road 9 to Willmar Avenue.
According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-November, weather permitting.
