MONTEVIDEO -- Selma Amanda "Sally" Rau, 95, of Montevideo died Friday at Rosewood in Montevideo.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m.

She was born May 26, 1912, in Lake Shore Township, Lac qui Parle County, to Gustav and Josephine (Halvorson) Lund. She attended the Madison Lutheran Normal School in Madison and graduated from Appleton High School in 1930. She earned a bachelor's degree in music at St. Olaf College in 1934.

On July 21, 1934, she married Arthur Rau in Madison. They lived in Hegbert Township in Swift County, and in Northfield, Minneapolis and the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., before moving to Montevideo in 1943 to open a tire and appliance business. She kept the accounts for the business and later performed similar functions for Johnson and Blank Accounting, the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She also taught public school for one year.

She is survived by a son: Lee (and Jan) Rau of Reston, Va.; a son-in-law: Lyle Schrapp of St. Cloud; five grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; a daughter: JoAnn Schrapp, in 1997; and by four brothers.
