GLENWOOD -- Selmer Herald "Harold" Dalager, 73, of rural Glenwood died Tuesday at his home.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barsness Lutheran Church in rural Glenwood. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born March 19, 1935, in Glenwood to Selmer and Elsy (Holman) Dalager. He grew up on a farm near Glenwood and attended School District No. 35. He was a 1953 graduate of Glenwood High School. Then he attended the University of Minnesota in St. Paul where he majored in forestry and poultry husbandry.

He married Marlys Pochardt on March 8, 1958, in Glenwood. They lived in Minneapolis and then surrounding suburbs before moving back to Glenwood to farm. He had a variety of employers including the Minnesota Highway Department, Dealer's Livestock in Glenwood, Fleet Supply in Glenwood, Lor-al in Benson, and Superior Industries in Morris. Between his years of employment with the highway department and Dealer's Livestock, he was self-employed as a farmer.

He served as president of the Barsness Lutheran Church council and was a supporter of the local Alcoholics Anonymous chapter.

He is survived by his wife; seven children: Rebecca Bartell of Glenwood, Elizabeth (and Chuck) Sorensen of Glenwood, Douglas (and Brenda) of Gloucester, Va., Dennis of Glenwood, Daniel of St. Paul, Darrel (and Wendy) of Goldsboro, N.C., Duane (and fiancée Janice) of Phoenix; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters: Theora (and Howard) Carlson of Pelican Rapids and Ione Johnson of Denver City, Texas.
