Semi driver from Kandiyohi injured in Friday morning crash near Clara City

An accident early Friday morning injured a 54-year-old man from Kandiyohi. The accident happened when the semi left the road and crashed into a farm field.

CLARA CITY — A Kandiyohi man was injured early Friday morning when the semi he was driving left the road and ended up in a field.

The accident was reported at 4:59 a.m. Friday on state Highway 23 at 140th Avenue Southeast, located east of Clara City in Lone Tree Township.

According to the State Patrol report, Ronald James Bloomquist, 54, was driving a 2007 International semi south on Highway 23 before driving off the road and landing in a farm field.

Blomquist was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

The road was dry at the time of the accident and alcohol was not a factor. It’s unknown if he was wearing a seat belt.


The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and the Clara City Fire Department responded to the scene.
