ST. JOSEPH - A semi driver was injured after his vehicle skidded on icy, went through a bridge guardrail and rolled into the Sauk River.
According to the State Patrol, the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on I-94 in St. Joseph Township when a 2014 Freightliner, driven by Charles Edward Matthewson, 32, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was traveling east when it hit a patch of ice, lost control and went through the bridge guard rail.
The vehicle continued down the embankment, rolling the semi and the empty tanker trailer on its driver side into the Sauk River.
Matthewson was taken to Centra Care in St. Cloud with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.
