WILLMAR - Seven people are competing for three at-large seats on the Willmar School Board this fall.
The school district includes the communities of Willmar, Kandiyohi, Blomkest and Pennock.
Candidates include Jared Anez of Willmar, Jay Lawton of Willmar, Linda Mathiasen of Willmar, Kelly O’Farrell of Spicer, Patrick J. Ousley of Willmar, Don Thorpe of Kandiyohi and Laura Warne of Pennock.
Mathiasen is an incumbent seeking re-election to her second term. Warne was appointed to fill an unexpired term and is running for her first full term. Board member Nathan Streed did not seek re-election.
Voters will be asked to choose three candidates on Election Day ballots.
Board members were asked a series of questions about issues in the school district. The answers listed on Page A5 were edited for length. Their full answers may be found in the Tribune’s online voter guide at wctrib.com.
Candidates were asked to list the top issues they feel the district is facing and to weigh in on a proposed building and remodeling project that may be put to a referendum next year.
