Nine area football players committed to or signed with colleges on Wednesday.

Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall landed five area players -- wide receiver Nate Holleman and linebacker Nate Hacker of Hancock, cornerback Ben Sletta of New London-Spicer, safety Bret Neubauer of BOLD and linebacker Jason Fernholz of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

Also signing was lineman Ben Aaseth of BOLD with South Dakota State, running back/linebackerJosh Rose of Litchfield with St. John's, wide receiver Eric Ellingworth of Redwood Valley and defensive back Micah Nordin of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City with Augustana; and running back Zach Bothun of Montevideo with MSU-Moorhead.
