WILLMAR -- Severin R. Carlson, 84, of Willmar died Sunday at the Rice Memorial Hospital.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Burial will be in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post 167 of Willmar.
He was born Nov. 14, 1922, at Nipiwin, Saskatchewan, to Carl and Alma (Nelson) Carlson. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to the United States. He grew up in Willmar and attended Willmar schools. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in Guam.

He married Vernis Pearson on Jan. 5, 1952, in Atwater. He was employed by the Central Dairy and later as a truck driver for the Standard Oil Company. Then he worked for the Murphy Freight Company and for the Willmar Poultry Company.
He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; one son: Gerald (and Jean) Carlson of Willmar; one daughter: Dianne Carlson of Willmar; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother: Calvin (and Jane) Carlson of Long Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
