Sheriff's office says no help needed at this time

The tornado which struck near Willmar Friday night caused damage at several businesses, farms and homes along Kandiyohi County Road 9.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office reported in a news release Saturday morning that the tornado hit a total of 11 homes -- destroying three homes and damaging eight others.

Two businesses -- Arnolds Equipment and Kandi Trailer Sales -- were damaged near the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and County Road 9.

Three turkey barns along County Road 9 were damaged by the tornado.

The tornado took a 9-mile course across southern Kandiyohi County -- touching down 4 miles west of the Highway 71-County 19 intersection traveling 9 miles to a point five miles east of Highway 71, north of the County Road 19 and 8 intersections.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office reports that "no help is needed at this time," according to Sgt. Matt Akerson.
