ATWATER -- Shirley May Loven-Espelien, 65, of Atwater died Thursday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar after an extended illness.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Atwater.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Atwater Funeral Home.

She was born Nov. 24, 1941, in Willmar to Charles and Alma (Rood) Loven. She grew up in the Willmar area and graduated from Willmar High School in 1959. She attended beauty school in Minneapolis.
She married Richard Espelien on March 11, 1960, in Willmar. They lived in New Mexico and Kansas. They later divorced, and she moved to Ponca City, Okla., and worked as a secretary. She returned to Willmar in 1991. She worked at Siefert's and Log Cabin Liquor. She worked for Litchfield Chrysler from 1995 to 2005, when she retired due to her health.
She is survived by special friend: LaVerne Narragon of Atwater; daughter: Nanette Penny of Yukon, Okla.; two grandchildren; and one sister: Delores "Toots" Strey of Willmar.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
