DAWSON -- Simon Moen, 91, formerly of Milan and Appleton, died Saturday at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 to 7 p.m., and with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
He was born Nov. 18, 1914 in Hantho Township of Lac qui Parle Co. to Martin and Alma (Lund) Moen. He attended rural schools. On Sept. 13, 1942 he married Helen Finbraaten. They farmed in Hantho Township until moving into Milan in 1980. They lived at Apple Ridge Estate in Appleton for three years and had been residents of the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson for the past three months. They also spent more than 25 years wintering in Mesa, AZ. He was a member of Borgund Lutheran Church for many years and had been a member of Kviteseid Lutheran since 1980. He was a member of the Farmers Union, National Farmers Organization and the Milan Elevator Board.

He is survived by his wife; children: Claire (and Syliva) Moen of Appleton, Bruce (and Darlene) Moen of Willmar, Brad Moen of Appleton, and Colleen Rhodes of Clayton, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
