Laura Jelaine Smith and Matthew Alan Burns are engaged to be married Aug. 2 at Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colo.
Smith is the daughter of Julie Singewald of Boulder, Colo., and Scott Smith of Grand Lake, Colo.
She graduated from Broomfield High School in Broomfield, Colo., in 2005. She is studying air traffic control at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.
Burns is the son of David and Connie Burns of Willmar.
He graduated from Willmar Senior High School in 2004. He earned a degree in commercial aviation at the University of North Dakota and is studying aviation management. He is employed as a flight instructor by the University of North Dakota Flight Operations.
