As of 3 p.m., four inches of snow had fallen near Montevideo, according to the National Weather Service. Blowing snow caused limited visibility and dangerous driving conditions Tuesday.
Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt said 10 accidents had been reported in Kandiyohi County as of 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Two were injured in accident involving three vehicles reported at 11 a.m. Tuesday along U.S. Highway 71 near 165th Ave Southwest in Blomkest, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Roads were icy at the time Carol R. Wood, 65, of Willmar was driving southbound on Highway 71 in a Ford Taurus. Her vehicle spun out and collided with a Chevrolet Avalanche traveling northbound, driven by Glenn G. Klaphake, 49, of Princeton.
A Buick Lucerne traveling southbound on Highway 71 driven by Vernon D. Junker, 74, of Redwood Falls, then struck the Taurus.
A passenger in the Taurus, Leann K. Davis, 50, of Renville was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
A passenger in the Lucerne, Joan S. Junker, 72, of Redwood Falls, was also transported to Rice Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
A collision involving a snowplow and passenger vehicle also occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday along State Highway 7 in Blomkest, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The snowplow was reportedly traveling along Highway 7 and slowing to make a right turn onto 30th Street Southwest. The driver of the passenger vehicle slowed down, but misjudged the speed of the plow and collided with the left rear of the vehicle.
The passenger vehicle was totaled and the snowplow sustained minor damages. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
