GRANITE FALLS -- Montevideo's Amy Johnson threw a four-hitter and delivered three hits, helping the Thunder Hawks tame Yellow Medicine East 6-1 Thursday in West Central Conference South softball.
It was the first conference loss for YME.
Backed by some stellar defensive plays behind her, Johnson breezed through the Sting lineup, walking one and fanning one.
Besides Johnson's two singles and a triple, Wendy Macziewski and Kaylee Johnson had two hits apiece for Montevideo.

Laura Wallenta's single to right-center with two outs in the ninth inning scored Missy Benson from second base for the game-winner. Benson had reached on a fielder's choice after Brittany Stadtherr singled. Benson the stole second.
The teams combined for 25 hits, seven of them for extra bases.
Sara Grasmon scattered 12 hits for the win. Kalina Blackwell was tagged with the loss.

Tiffany Schultz singled, doubled and tripled for the Falcons and Stephanie Nelson singled three times. Breanna Keltgen singled and homered for BOLD and Benson tripled twice.
