ST. CLOUD -- Nathan Rogalski, 22, of Spicer, was to have a tracheotomy and a feeding tube put into his stomach Wednesday at St. Cloud Hospital, according to posts by family members on a Caring Bridge Web site.

Rogalski was critically injured early Saturday morning in a motorcycle crash along Lake Avenue South in Spicer.

The crash happened while Rogalski and Jay Goedert, 18, of Willmar, were being pursued by a Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputy. The men were operating motorcycles that the deputy observed speeding and possibly racing along state Highway 23 through Spicer.

Doctors are conducting other tests on Rogalski and are asking that only family members be present during visiting hours, according to the posting.

Earlier postings noted that Rogalski was unable to take full breaths, and that a machine was helping him breathe. The posting continued: "He has brain swelling which they were worried about at first but not so much anymore; he has small clotting throughout the brain; he has some cuts and scratches on his face; his left eye isn't functioning; he could possibly be blind if or when he pulls through."
