WILLMAR - A 66-year-old Spicer man was placed on five years of probation Monday for harassing his neighbor.
Terry Dean Johnson received a stay of adjudication on a charge of felony violation of a harassment restraining order. Under the stay, no conviction will appear on his record if he complies with the terms of his probation, including having no contact with his neighbor and staying a reasonable distance away from the neighbor’s residence.
Johnson was also sentenced to 90 days in jail, which may be deferred if he pays restitution and complies with the probation terms.
As part of a plea agreement, additional charges of felony pattern of stalking conduct and 10 other gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor charges of harassment or stalking and violating a restraining order were dismissed.
Johnson was convicted of misdemeanor damage to property in 2010 for allegedly damaging his neighbor’s security cameras.
According to the criminal complaint, the neighbor continued to call the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office to report several incidents. The neighbor said he felt threatened because Johnson was trespassing, following and harassing him and continuing to tamper with his security cameras.
