WILLMAR -- Willmar's third-period woes continued as St. Cloud Tech scored three times down the stretch to whip the Cardinals 5-2 in Central Lakes Conference boys hockey on Thursday at the Civic Center.
Willmar had tied the game 2-2 and seemed to be playing well when the Tigers took over.
Tech led 1-0 after one period and went up 2-0 on the first of two goals by Alex Coulter at 1:51 in the second period.
Tech was controlling the puck when Willmar got a man-advantage late in the period. Willmar took advantage from a power play goal by Joel Schendel, assisted by Mitch Schneider and Griffin Leitch, at 16:28.
Junior Raulin Magnuson tied it up 2:21 into the third frame, a high snap shot beating Tech puck stopper Cole Reynolds. Travis Hanson and Josh Aslesen got assists.

Willmar had several more strong shifts before the Tigers again grabbed the territorial advantage. Paul Davis made it 3-2 Tigers with a perfect shot over goalie Jon Mattison's right shoulder.
Willmar had trouble clearing the puck from its zone and the Tigers put up two more goals in the next three minutes.
Tech outshot Willmar 34-22.
Willmar, winless in the CLC, travels to play River Lakes at Paynesville on Tuesday.
