WILLMAR — A fire started around 11:59 a.m. Thursday at the Kandiyohi County Jail in Willmar, according to a news release from Sheriff Eric Holien.
Staff extinguished the fire, and as a precautionary measure, one inmate and one corrections officer were transported to Carris Health-Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar to be evaluated for injury.
The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office was notified and will be investigating the fire.
The Willmar Fire Department and the Carris Health Ambulance also responded to the incident.
