GLENWOOD - A 36-year-old Starbuck man was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison for a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Ryan Emmett Moore is classified as a Level 3 sex offender, the Department of Corrections’ classification for defendants deemed most likely to reoffend.
Moore also was sentenced Thursday to 10 years of conditional release, which he will serve after his prison time.
He was charged for the sexual assault of a woman in 2011 and was convicted of the charge Thursday.
In February 2013, Moore had been sentenced to 10 years of probation - under a stay of adjudication on the charge - but is alleged to have violated his probation terms.
A stay of adjudication meant a conviction would not have appeared on his record had he complied with his probation arrangement.
Moore was arrested in October 2011 after officers from the Starbuck and Buffalo police departments, state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the West Central Drug Task Force served a warrant on his Starbuck home.
According to Tribune archives, the investigation by Starbuck police began when a 30-year-old woman presented herself at the emergency room of Buffalo Hospital and said she had been sexually assaulted by Moore.
The woman reported that she had traveled from Maple Lake to Starbuck to stay with Moore for a few days on Oct. 5, 2011. She said that she had observed Moore smoking meth on Oct. 7 and that while he was high on meth, he sexually assaulted her.
