Starbuck, Minn., officer collides with motorcycle during attempted u-turn


STARBUCK — A Starbuck Police Department vehicle collided with a motorcycle around 7:27 p.m. July 4 on South Main Street, according to a Pope County Sheriff’s Office news release.

According to the release, Starbuck Officer Ryan Franks, 28, was traveling southbound on South Main Street when he witnessed a traffic violation from a vehicle driving northbound on the same road.

The news release states that Franks pulled to the right side of the road and attempted to make a u-turn with his emergency lights activated to pursue the vehicle.

As Franks was attempting to make a u-turn he collided with a motorcycle driven by Dale Uhden, 60, of Alexandria who was driving southbound on South Main Street. The accident caused an injury but the Pope County Sheriff’s Office would not release any more details.

The case is under investigation by the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.
