BENSON - State Highway 29 north of Benson has now been reopened to all traffic, the Swift County Sheriff’s Office says.
The highway had been closed due to this morning’s anhydrous ammonia tanker rollover crash.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported around 6:45 a.m. and happened when a pickup pulling two 1,000-gallon anhydrous tanks lost control on a patch of ice on a bridge and rolled into the ditch. By 8 a.m., most of the product had been released and Sheriff's Office at that time said there was no emergency to the immediate area.
The road had been closed during the investigation and cleanup work, and crews from District 4 of MnDOT had been called in to provide assistance to local law enforcement and fire department crews who had been handling local traffic, according to the Willmar Department of Transportation office.
