ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota State Patrol Thursday honored more than 30 troopers and 26 citizens for meritous services including delivering a baby, rescuing motorists from burning cars and deterring suicide attempts.
Hutchinson trooper, Sgt. Jim Nielson, 49, was honored as the "Trooper of the Year." Nielson serves the Mankato district and has worked for the agency for 24 years.
Trooper Adam Flynn of the East Metropolitan District was honored as the DWI arrest leader for the second year in a row. Flynn made 202 DWI arrests in 2005.
Other troopers were also honored for lifesaving and meritous service awards.
The State Patrol also honored 26 citizens for assisting troopers and motorists in traffic crashes.
