WILLMAR -- A front license plate stolen from a vehicle in Willmar was reportedly used in a gas drive-off in Waverly.
It was one of several stolen license plates reported in the past week in Willmar, said Willmar Police Officer Marilee Dorn.
"Once in a while, walk around your car to make sure you've got both license plates, because they are being used in gas drive-offs," Dorn said on Friday.
The license plate reported in the Waverly drive-off was stolen from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Ninth Street Southwest in Willmar.
When a license plate is reported stolen, the remaining license plate is destroyed, and the owner of the vehicle must get new plates, Dorn said. According to the Kandiyohi County license registrar's office, a new set of license plates costs $14.50.
