WILlMAR -- As much as 10 inches of snow could fall in the Willmar area before it's all over on Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Chanhassen is forecasting.
The Weather Service issued a winter storm warning on Sunday for west central Minnesota. What it termed a "long duration'' event that began Sunday afternoon will continue to bring snow to the area through Tuesday morning.
Strong winds with gusts of up to 25 miles per hour are forecast for Monday evening and night.
Travel conditions on Sunday ranged from fair to difficult in the region. Conditons are expected to deteriorate as more snow and stronger winds push into the region.
The greatest snow depths are expected in an area from Alexandria and Morris to Willmar and Litchfield and continuing southeasterly to the Mankato, Albert Lea and Fairmont area.
