WILLMAR -- The seventh annual Strategic Animal Ag Conference begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Holiday Inn/Willmar Conference Center.
The event, which continues from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, will address the health of the rural economy and its producers. It is sponsored by the Kandiyohi County and City of Willmar Economic Development Commission's agriculture and renewable energy development committee and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
Two key presenters include Jolene Brown, a nationally acclaimed speaker, on "The Top 10 Stupid Things Families to do Break Up their Business" on Thursday evening.
Additional presentations include reports from state and federal legislators, Ag Star Financial Services, United FCS and Rural Mental Health and a presentation on group insurance for farmers from the Farmers Health Cooperative.
The Friday luncheon address is a presentation from Jim Kieklopf, credit economist for AgriBank in St. Paul, speaking on the financial crisis, the world economy and what it means for animal agriculture.
