WILLMAR -- No one had to hold on to their hats harder Saturday than the residents of Hanley Falls in Yellow Medicine County, where a wind gust of 51 miles per hour was recorded in the morning.
Strong winds swept through the region throughout the day Saturday, and some of the highest wind gusts in Minnesota were recorded in area counties, according to the National Weather Service office in Chanhassen.
A gust of 47 mph was measured two miles west-southwest of Clara City in Chippewa County, while a 49-mph blast was recorded five miles south of Marietta in Lac qui Parle County.
Willmar reported a 41-mph gust and Olivia a 40-mph gust.
