PEOSTA, Iowa -- Maj. Stuart M. Anderson, 44, of Peosta, Iowa, formerly of Benson, died Jan. 7 as a result of a helicopter crash in Iraq.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery. Military rites performed by Soldiers of the U.S. Army Reserve 3rd COSCOM.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home in Dubuque. A memorial fund in his name has been established.

He was born June 2, 1961, in Alexandria to Claremont and Nancy (Olson) Anderson. He graduated from Benson High School in 1980 and received a bachelor's degree in education from North Dakota State University in Fargo in 1985.
He married Tori Klingle on May 25, 1985, in Benson. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1984 and was a commissioned officer in 1989. He worked as a welder at Premier Tooling and Manufacturing in Peosta and was serving a second tour of duty in Iraq.
He is survived by his wife; daughters: Keely and Kirsten, both at home; his parents of Hoffman; brothers: Darren (and Nancy) Anderson of Keller, Texas, Terry (and Linda) Anderson of Sun Prairie, Wis.; sister: Jay Lee Leaf of Litchfield; and maternal grandmother: LaVone Olson of Barrett.
