OLIVIA -- A bomb threat was discovered at the end of the school day on Tuesday at BOLD's elementary campus in Bird Island.

The threat was discovered by a custodian cleaning a restroom, according to BOLD Superintendent Mike Funk. It was the fourth bomb threat in the district since January.

The district is actively investigating the incident, Funk said.

A student has admitted to being the originator of a Nov. 20 bomb threat at BOLD High School in Olivia. A note was found on a boys' restroom wall. Officials searched the school but no device was found. Students were evacuated to the school gym during the search.

The BOLD School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Bird Island to discuss if the student will be expelled.

The threats are disruptive to learning, Funk said. He will recommend that the board vote for expulsion.

"We have no tolerance for that type of behavior," he said.

A Nov. 27 news release from the Olivia Police Department indicated that a 15-year-old suspect was identified by authorities and that the case was forwarded to the Renville County Attorney's Office for possible criminal charges.

Also during the meeting on Monday, the board will consider signing a new bus contract. Positive Connections Inc. began busing BOLD's students on Nov. 27. The company is based in Hopkins and Chaska and is running 12 routes for the district. So far, the transition to the new company is going well, Funk said.

All of the buses used by Positive Connections are less than two years old. The district and bus company are in the process of negotiating a contract for this year and the 2007-08 school year.

Palmer Bus Company, which is based in Mankato, bused the district's students until the Thanksgiving holiday break. The district requested new quotes for transportation services after Palmer's bus drivers failed to show up to drive students home from school on Sept. 13. The quotes were opened and reviewed at a Nov. 21 board meeting.
