WILLMAR - Never mind that it is 45 degrees with a 41-degree wind chill, the sun is finally shining in west central Minnesota.

According to the National Weather Service forecast for Willmar, it will be mostly sunny today with a high temperature of 53 degrees and north northwest winds from 5 to 15 mph. There is a 30-percent chance of showers, mainly after 4 p.m. this afternoon.

The chance of showers diminishes over the next several days, with frosty nights and low temperatures in the 30s and high temperatures around 54 on Friday, 61 on Saturday and 65 degrees on Sunday.

The forecast calls for a 40- to 50-percent chance of showers again on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

According to data from the State Climatology Office, the normal mean temperature for May in Willmar is between 58 and 60 degrees. The range from normal minimum and maximum temperatures is 46 to 48 degrees to 68 to 70 degrees.
