ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota's newest Supreme Court justice, David Lillehaug has announced he has throat cancer, but says it won't keep him from serving on the high court.

Lillehaug said in a statement Wednesday that he got his diagnosis last week. He says the cancer was caught early, is localized and is highly curable.

Lillehaug says he'll undergo treatment in Minneapolis starting in mid-June. He says he plans to join the court on Monday as scheduled.

He says Gov. Mark Dayton and Chief Justice Lorie Gildea support his plan to work throughout treatment. Dayton appointed Lillehaug, a former U.S. attorney, in March.
