NEW LONDON -- A 17-year-old Willmar boy was arrested early Sunday morning in rural New London after being found sleeping and drunk in his vehicle.
According to a report filed with the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department, a homeowner along the 17000 block of Third Street Northeast reported seeing the 17-year-old asleep in a vehicle along the road around 5:45 a.m. A sheriff's deputy responded and arrested the boy for driving while impaired, having possession of alcohol and having stolen property.
The stolen items the boy had in the vehicle were linked to a Dec. 9 burglary at Willmar Wood Products. The burglary and theft of tools were reported to the Willmar Police Department.
The 17-year-old was taken to Prairie Lakes Detention Center after being arrested Sunday.
