PRINSBURG -- In Tuesday's general election, voters in Prinsburg elected challenger Mitch Swart and incumbent Robert Huizenga to serve on the Prinsburg City Council.
Swart received 218 votes, Huizenga got 212 votes and Mary Ryks, also an incumbent, received 115 votes, according to unofficial results from the Kandiyohi County Web site.
Swart is a political newcomer and is operating manager of Service Oil. Huizenga has served on the council for more than 30 years, is semi-retired and is a truck driver for Service Oil. Ryks has served three terms on the council and is a histologic technician at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Harvey Van Eps was re-elected mayor with 289 votes. He ran unopposed for the mayor seat.
