Teen flees after motorcycle-van crash in Willmar

WILLMAR -- A 15-year-old boy fled from the scene of a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday that injured the driver of the motorcycle involved in the crash.

According to a news release from Willmar Police Sgt. Michael Jahnke, the motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital.

According to the report, the teen was driving the van northbound on Lakeland Drive and the cycle was southbound on Lakeland. The van attempted to turn left in front of the motorcycle at Becker Avenue Southeast and the motorcycle struck the right side of the van.

The teen fled on foot and ran into a cornfield near Lincoln School. Officers searched the area and located the teen. Charges are pending against the boy.

Also responding were the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
