NEW LONDON -- The Willmar Cardinals and the New London-Spicer Wildcats met for the second time in the new season on Monday. At 75 degrees, the mercury was 35 degrees higher than April 1, when the teams battled at the NLS Invitational -- but the results were much the same.
Willmar took a 7-0 win this time, a one-point change from the first meeting. Ryan Miller and Tom Graves avenged their loss to the Wildcats' David Bloomquist and Colin Wright at 1-doubles, winning 1-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Matt Hallstrom won a three-set thriller with Jackson Wright at 3-singles 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Brendan Sheehan won 6-3, 6-1 at 4-singles.
The Cardinals (4-0) start Central Lakes Conference play today, hosting St. Cloud Apollo.
