BRAINERD -- The Willmar tennis team came up just short at Brainerd on Thursday losing the Central Lakes Conference match 4-3 to the Warriors.
The combatants split at singles and all three pairs matches needed three sets to complete. At 3-3, Brainerd squeaked out the point at 3-doubles where Nate Henningson/Cory Kuglin rallied to beat Andy Neis/Tony Hafner 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Andy Gimse/Jordan Baker took 2-double 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Marco Vazquez and Matt Hallstrom both won in straight sets at 2- and 3-singles, respectively.
Tom Graves/Ryan Miller at 1-doubles lost a topsy-turvy match 5-7, 6-1, 1-6.
