MILAN -- For the second straight year, Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd needed a tiebreaker to top New London-Spicer in girls tennis action.
Monday, it was 2-singles player Melanie Gail who outlasted Alyssa Wachter in the deciding match. After losing the first set 6-1, Gail battled back to tie the match with a 7-5 triumph, then overcame a 5-2 deficit in the third game to win a 7-4 tiebreaker. It ended a three-plus hour match and earned the win for the Eagles (16-0).
Three of the seven matches went three sets and the Wildcats won two of them.

Stef Grussing won a grueling three-setter at 3-singles to help MACCRAY upend Yellow Medicine East 5-2 in a non-conference dual Monday.
Grussing beat Jessica Dhoore 6-2 in the first set before falling 8-6 in the second-set tiebreaker. Grussing then won the third-set tiebreaker 7-4 for the Wolverines (15-4).
