WILLMAR - Jennifer Mendoza, of Willmar, is the third to file for a vacant seat on the Willmar School Board. A special election is scheduled for May 16.
Mendoza joins William Busta, of Willmar, and Abdirahman Hussein Abdi, of Willmar, who filed earlier.
The seat was left vacant by the resignation of board member Mike Carlson, who moved out of the district. State law requires that a special election be held to fill the vacant seat on a school board. The term will expire at the end of the year.
The filing period will close Feb. 25.
Those interested in running for the seat may file at the reception area at the school district’s main office in the Willmar Education and Arts Center, 611 Fifth St. S.W. Filing is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 25. There is a $2 filing fee.
