WILLMAR -- Jason Thoennes is closing in on another track championship after he drove his No. 52 Modified racer to the checkered flag in the 17-car feature on Thursday night at the KRA Speedway on the 3/8-mile oval at the county fairgrounds.
He was pursued by some of the top drivers in the Modified class. Don Eischens, Danny Bayer and Ryan Canon trailed him to the line.
The races drew 101 cars, including many new drivers. Street Stock, won by track regular Ryan Buer, packed in 20 cars.
Cory Tammen, last week's Super Stock Special winner, repeated and also won his heat race.
Shane Sabraski took the 19-car Midwest Mod trophy home to Rice while Justin Bjorklund outgunned Andy Deters, points leader Conrad Schwinn and Dean Larson for the win in Mod-4.

Hobby Stock had another ultra-competitive field with 16 cars in the main. Josh Dragt nosed out another Willmar driver, Shawn Fernkes, for the first-place payout.
Two more weeks of regular racing remain.
