COSMOS - Three passengers in a vehicle that rolled several times Wednesday evening south of Cosmos were taken to two hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
According to the State Patrol, Joshua Lies, 24, of Cosmos, was driving a 1998 Ford Escort around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday on State Highway 4 south of Cosmos when he swerved to miss a deer, causing the vehicle to enter the ditch and roll over.
Lies was wearing his seat belt and wasn’t injured, but his passengers, Joseph J. Sullivan, 24, Riley Shea, 23, of Atwater, and Jed Kujawa, 30, of Kandiyohi, sustained injuries. Sullivan and Shea were taken to Hutchinson Medical Center and Kujawa was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Shea and Kujawa were not wearing seat belts, but Sullivan was wearing his belt.
Also responding were Renville County Sheriff’s office, Hector and Buffalo Lake police departments, Lifelink Air Ambulance and the Cosmos and Hector ambulance crews.
