LITCHFIELD -- Citizens in Meeker County have two new ways to report anonymous tips to law enforcement.

County Sheriff Jeff Norlin announces that citizens can use the internet or text their information to his office.

To report on the internet, go to Meeker County's website, www.co.meeker.mn.us , click on Sheriff, and then on Crime Stoppers, and report your information anonymously. Citizens can also text information by texting "TIP674 plus your message" to CRIMES (274637).

The new features are available thanks to assistance from Crime Stoppers of Minnesota.

Sheriff Norlin also wishes to remind folks that this is in addition to the sheriff's office TIP line at (320) 693-5411, and Crime Stoppers toll-free TIP line at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sheriff Norlin states that through the ease of reporting tips, keeping pace with technology at little to no cost, and the possibility of collecting reward money going through Crime Stoppers of up $1,000.00, that Crime Stoppers also guarantees it protects the identity of the tipster and this will be a win, win situation for all involved.
