MOSCOW - Dawson native Carrie Tollefson, who now trains and lives in St. Paul, recorded her season-best time in the 3,000-meter run and finished seventh in the World Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday.
Tollefson, 29, who will also compete in the World Cross Country Championships in Japan next month, ran 8:59.13.
It was also the best time by an American woman this season.
Meseret Defar of Ethiopia defended her title by beating world-record holder Liliya Shobukhova of Russian by more than three seconds.
