Tom Butterfield running for Willmar City Council seat in Ward 4

Tom Butterfiled has filed seeking the Ward 4 seat on the Willmar City Council.

WILLMAR — Tom Butterfield has filed to run for the open Willmar City Council seat in Ward 4.

The seat is currently filed by Shawn Mueske, who is not running for reelection.

This will be Butterfield's second attempt to run for the Willmar City Council. He ran against Mueske in 2015 in a special election to fill the seat of Jim Dokken, who retired.

According to information Butterfield provided to the Tribune in 2015, he is the fifth generation of his family to live in Willmar. He attended and graduated from Willmar High School and Willmar Vocational School with a degree in marketing management.

He served on the advisory board for the Ridgewater College marketing management program and managed a local employee recruitment firm.
