ST. PAUL -- Wendy Toops of New London-Spicer finished an area-high 11th place on the balance beam at the state Class A gymnastics meet Saturday at Roy Wilkins Auditorium.
Toops recorded a 9.075 in the event. She also was the highest from the area in the all-around, placing 23rd with a 34.9125.
Megan Lundin of Litchfield was 26th with a 34.575, Briquelle Bowden of Paynesville was 27th with a 34.375 and Becky Corbett of Redwood Valley was 29th with a 34.175.
Lundin and Corbett both competed in last year's state meet and moved up two spots this year.
Kelsi Magers of Redwood Valley took 12th place in the vault with a score of 9.3875. Michele Hanson of Benson/KMS finished in 16th place with a 9.325.
