Election of township supervisors, clerks and treasurers takes place today across Minnesota.
Townships will also be holding annual meetings to set their levies and operating budgets.
Townships are the only form of government that offers voters the opportunity to approve levies and budgets, according to the Minnesota Association of Townships.
The meeting also allows residents a chance to voice their thoughts on various areas of provided services, community plans, needs and wants through recommendations to the governing body, according to the association.
Individual townships set the time of their annual meetings and elections, which occur on the second Tuesday in March. Townships publish the time and location of their meetings before the date.
