Track: Willmar boys, Rocori girls first at ACGC

GROVE CITY -- The Willmar boys were first and the Rocori took first in the girls' division at the eight-team Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Invitational on Tuesday.

GROVE CITY -- The Willmar boys were first and the Rocori took first in the girls' division at the eight-team Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Invitational on Tuesday.

The meet started with a couple of stellar performances in the first hour. Zach Bothun, Montevideo senior, drilled the long jump with a leap of 21-6. At the same time, the Willmar boys' 4 x 800 relay team turned in an 8:12, capped by Abdi Awale's 1:55.42 800 split.

Kevin Koglin of Hutchinson blazed to victory in the 100 dash in 10.98, followed by Willmar's Cory Hanson in 11.28.

Ally Roberts won the 200 dash for Willmar and Renville County West got firsts from Sally Smith in shotput and Abbey Schmidtmann in triple jump.

YME boys first at BOLD/BLH invite

OLIVIA -- The Cedar Mountain/Comfrey girls and the Yellow Medicine East boys prevailed at the seven-school BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector track and field invitational on Tuesday.

Kaelene Lundstrum of BOLD/BLH won shot put with a heave of 37-4, while teammate Samantha Broderius was first in the discus with a throw of 118-4.

Bobby Balfany won both hurdle events, leading YME to a 171-144 victory over runner-up MACCRAY.

Yellow Medicine East's Dan Johnson won both the long and triple jumps.

MACCRAY's Reed Davids threw the shot 44-7 for first place.
