ROCHESTER -- Poor shooting and numerous turnovers proved too costly for Ridgewater Wednesday as Rochester doused the Warriors 78-55 in the MCCC Southern Division opener for both squads.
The Yellowjackets (1-0, 9-2), who raced to a 50-28 lead at halftime, scored 43 points off of Ridgewater's turnovers. Rochester employed a full-court press for the entire game, which resulted in 24 steals for the Yellowjackets.
"We had a lot of turnovers in the first half and they hit their three-pointers early," said Ridgewater coach Bob Knutson.
David Johnson, Ridgewater's leading scorer, was held to just seven points as Geoffrey Nelson paced the Warriors with 16 points.
Allen Huselid followed with 10 points while Travis Schultz pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

Rochester had Lucas Blood net 17 points and Darrin Loewenhagen and Rochester Rogers added 14 more apiece.
