NEW LONDON -- Paul Tuchscherer of Brainerd defeated Brent Gloege of Fargo, N.D., 6-2, 6-3 for the Men's Open championship of the Waterdays Tennis Tournament played Friday through Sunday. Tuchscher played 3-singles for Concordia, Moorhead, last spring as a junior.
In Women's Open, Rachelle Kunde of Marshall stopped Alicia Otto of St. Cloud 6-2, 6-3 in the final. Both will be high school seniors this fall.
Gloege and Chad Schmiesing teamed up to win open doubles over Mark Hallstrom of Willmar and Tuchscherer 6-0, 6-4.
Emerging from Mixed Doubles was the pair of Susan Sass/Mark Swanson, both of St. Cloud. They beat the New London father/daughter duo of Tim and Bethany Helgeson 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.
Sass and Swanson also won titles in "A" singles.
