The Minnesota Twins lost two prospects in the winter major league draft Thursday, but they selected shortstop Alejandro Machado from the Washington Nationals organization.

The Minnesota Twins lost two prospects in the winter major league draft Thursday, but they selected shortstop Alejandro Machado from the Washington Nationals organization.

Lost in the Rule 5 draft were right-handers Kevin Cameron (to the San Diego Padres) and Levale Speigner (to the Nationals).

Machado, 24, played last season with Triple-A Pawtucket. Players picked in the major league portion of the winter draft must make the selecting team's 25-man roster out of spring training or be returned to the original club.
