The Minnesota Twins lost two prospects in the winter major league draft Thursday, but they selected shortstop Alejandro Machado from the Washington Nationals organization.
Lost in the Rule 5 draft were right-handers Kevin Cameron (to the San Diego Padres) and Levale Speigner (to the Nationals).
Machado, 24, played last season with Triple-A Pawtucket. Players picked in the major league portion of the winter draft must make the selecting team's 25-man roster out of spring training or be returned to the original club.
